You can set the plaintiff's expected age at death using his life expectancy, or you can enter the age yourself.

You use the Apply Life Expectancy Checkbox, which appears at the top of the Life Span controls, to select whether the plaintiff's age at death is:

Calculated using the plaintiff's life expectancy.
Entered manually.

The checkbox also determines which section of the Life Span controls is enabled and which section is disabled.

When the Apply Life Expectancy Checkbox is filled, the application:

Enables the Life Expectancy Values section of the Life Span controls.
Applies the plaintiff's life expectancy to the damages calculations.

The life expectancy is determined by:

The Race option under the Plaintiff Demographics tab.
The General Options under the Advanced Options tab.
The Life Expectancy options under the Advanced Options tab.

When the Apply Life Expectancy Checkbox is empty, the application:

Enables the Manual Life Span Inputs section of the Life Span controls.
Applies the Estimated Age at Death input to the damages calculations.
Applies the Life Span Footnote input to the report.

Estimated Age at Death

Enter the age at which the plaintiff is expected to die.

Life Span Footnote

Enter the text for the report footnote that cites the source of the Estimated Age of Death input value.
