Dates Care Provided

You use the controls on the Dates Care Provided page to set the Start Date (date when care begins) and End Date (date when care ends) for the care the dependent receives from the plaintiff. Which controls appear on the page is determined by the type of dependent.

Note:

These inputs are used by the Manual Calculation Method for valuing household services. The DVD Data Methods uses the birth date of Child dependents to determine which data to apply. It does not use the Start Date and End Date for care provided.

Start Date

Care for a Child dependent can start at birth or at a specified date. If care begins at birth, then select the Care Starts At Birth option. If not, turn off the Care Starts At Birth option, then enter or select the date care starts using the Enter Start Date input.

End Date

Care for a Child dependent can end when the child reaches a specified age, or at a specified date. To set the date care ends by selecting the age at which the child becomes independent, use the Age When Care Ends option. To enter a specific date you first select Not Applied for the Age When Care Ends option, then enter or select the date care ends using the Enter End Date input.

Start Date

Care for an Elderly dependent begins at a specified date, typically when the dependent enters the plaintiff's household. Enter or select the date care begins using the Enter Start Date input.

End Date

Care for an Elderly dependent can end at death, or at a specified date. The latter often occurs when the dependent leaves the plaintiff's household and enters a long term care facility. To specify that care ends at death, select the Care Ends At Death option, then complete the Expected Life Span settings. To enter a specific date, turn off the Care Ends At Death option, then enter or select the date care ends using the Enter End Date input.

Care for a Disabled dependent can start at birth or at a specified date. If care begins at birth, then select the Care Starts At Birth option. If not, turn off the Care Starts At Birth option, then enter or select the date care begins using the Enter Start Date input.

Care for a Disabled dependent can end at death, or at a specified date. The latter often occurs when the dependent leaves the plaintiff's household and enters a long term care facility.
